My Carers is proud to welcome Aira Abinguna as our Director of Care.
Her appointment strengthens something we have always believed at My Carers: that good care begins with strong clinical leadership and a team that is properly trained, supported and led.
A career in clinical leadership and education
Aira brings extensive experience across nursing leadership, aged care, clinical education and health service management.
She has held senior nursing roles in Sydney hospitals, including Nurse Unit Manager, and has led clinical teams in aged care as a Deputy Director of Nursing. Alongside her hospital and aged care work, Aira has played a significant role in nursing education. She has served as Program Director for the Diploma of Nursing and as a Course Coordinator with Nurse Training Australia, helping shape the next generation of nurses.
That combination is rare. Aira understands both how care is delivered at the bedside and how care teams are built, taught and held to a standard.
What this means for the people we support
For participants and families, it means the care you receive sits under experienced clinical oversight. Support plans, medication management, complex health needs and everyday routines are all guided by someone who has led clinical teams in hospitals and aged care.
For our support workers, it means ongoing learning. Aira’s background in nursing education shapes how we train, mentor and develop our team, so the people who walk into your home are confident in what they are doing.
For support coordinators, it means a clear clinical point of contact when you are placing someone with complex needs and need to know a provider can hold them safely.
Nurse led and education led
My Carers was built by a registered nurse and a healthcare educator. Aira’s appointment brings both halves of that together and carries them forward.
We are glad she is here, and we are looking forward to what her leadership means for the people we support across Southwest Sydney.
