My Carers is here to be the steady second family people turn to. To raise the standard of care, and give families space to be family again.
As healthcare professionals, we've had a front row seat to the burden families carry and the compromises participants learn to tolerate.
No family chooses this life. Someone you love was fine, until they weren't. Suddenly there are limits, forms, funding rules, and that unspoken pressure to stay composed, to cope better than you are. You become a part-time nurse, part-time administrator, part-time diplomate, and full-time worrier, trying to get the care right without losing your relationship to the person you're caring for.
And then there's the NDIS plan, which can be genuinely helpful and deeply opaque in equal measure. Too often families don't realise what they're entitled to, because nobody has explained what's in it, what can be used, and how to ask for what your family member needs without feeling like you're being difficult.
This is why we do what we do. We were made for this work in the least romantic sense possible, and we feel fortunate that it lets us change how someone lives. We treat it as both privilege and purpose to raise the standard of care in the unglamorous, day-to-day ways that actually count. We're here to be the steady second family people turn to, giving families space to be family again.
